Blood Never Dries | by Fred Jay Gordon Feb. 05, 2012 | $0.99 | 124655 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: FRED JAY GORDON was born in the Bronx and lives in New York. He owned Pegasus, a red, 17-hand high ex-race horse he rode bareback and could jump five foot high fences. When Gordon was 16, he wrote and recorded a pop song, "Bye, Bye, She Cried," which was bought by Atlantic Records. He's swept warehouse floors and worked the delivery trucks for the Budweiser beer factory in Newark, NJ. He has a degree in English from UC Berkeley and received a scholarship from Columbia University in Film. At NBC Studios in New York, he worked as a Tour Guide and had to wear a paper collar, a skinny black tie, and a badge with a peacock. On Broadway, he helped cast and raise money for two smash hit musicals then worked as a salad boy and a waiter. His plays have been produced in NY, LA, Baltimore, etc, he's a member of the Ensemble Studio Theater, he's taught playwriting and English Literature as well as horse-back riding, appeared as a contestant on various tv game shows, walked the streets of Brooklyn as a city social worker, worked the graveyard shift in the Tombs in the prisons in downtown NYC, etc. He’s a PEN Award winner and was a resident writer at the Edward Albee Foundation in Montauk, NY. He has just finished a new novel, AN AMERICAN FABLE, and will soon publish BLOOD NEVER DRIES. Reviews of BENJAMIN GRABBED HIS GLICKEN AND RAN: from Library Journal: "One hopes BENJAMIN won't be dismissed as just another offbeat experimental novel. It is an exciting book!" from Publishers Weekly: "...Benjamin's personal story is wild, with an extraordinary made-up language and a pun-on-pun series of sentences... The novel builds to a strong, dramatic climax and the effect is chilling." from The Christian Science Monitor: "Like a child of Zeus sprung full grown from the head of their creator ... this novel has not received the attention it deserves... The novel is operating simultaneously on three planes and finally on a fourth. Benjamin as a character is oddly captivating ... virtuosic ... exacting descriptions of Benjamin's room, physical sensations, and emotions are like a zoom lens bringing one in intensely close to him. Benjamin says of his Mysteries: 'Words are only a small portion of my life... They are weak technicalities which fail... Words are only words. And besides, I lie a lot.' |

THE FAT BAG stuck between a rock cake & a hard plaice | by Pearl Barley Feb. 05, 2012 | $2.99 | 40461 words | Sample 15% |
| Author bio: I never intended to be an author - it kind of happened by accident. I've always kept diaries since my teens (many years ago) and ended up with a collection of true stories about life but mainly food, dieting efforts, relationships, clothes shopping, shoes and chocolate - the usual type of women's issues, many of which, in particular, were pertinent to my current book, THE FAT BAG stuck between a rock cake & a hard plaice (I simply love the play on words). When this book came together, on advice from friends, I decided to publish it and writing became a worthy and enjoyable pastime. The title of the book has a double-meaning, which all gets explained at the end. I've continued the story by writing a sequel to THE FAT BAG which should be complete and published by early spring. |

| Author bio: I live thirty minutes outside of Seattle in the Evergreen State. Though the most absurd trees are towering above the Northern Californian coast. Went there last summer on a road trip and did some extended camping where I was warned, "the bums go". You know why they go there? Because of the view and the trees. All my works that are for sale are currently in the Amazon KDP program. All my free works are here to stay for the community to enjoy. My most recent work is "Amigosa Calm"-A spiritual adventure drama with a world wide cultural revolution mixed in. What happens in the modern age when a prophet-like persona shows up and starts performing miracles? Both my "American Epitaph" books pay homage to all the conspiracy/doomer/anti-establishment movements. They center around a contemporary version of the American Revolution and are set in Phoenix where I grew up. "Occupy Our Common Ground" and "100 Things We Can Occupy" were written for and in the spirit of the Libertarian movements taking shape in our world today. Favorite anonymous quote: "I am more than I seem to be, yet seem to be more than I really am." I got my degree in philosophy, love being lost in the desert, and strive to foster solidarity with other authors and eBookers. Please feel free to contact me. |

| Author bio: I have always loved writing for pleasure, and have written fiction to amuse myself ever since I can remember. I was the kind of child who would constantly craze my parents for an idea I could write a story about. Since going to university and graduating with a degree in Egyptology (with some focus on Ancient Greece and Rome), I have really come to enjoy writing non-fiction as well. I have many interests, but history is probably the main one. Other interests include travel, learning Spanish, cooking and eating! |

| Author bio: I'm a writer, journalist, filmmaker, event producer and counterculture and cannabis activist. I was the first journalist to travel to the South Bronx and document the origins of hip hop. In 1988, I was hired as editor of High Times magazine. I created the Cannabis Cup, a cannabis awards ceremony held every Thanksgiving in Amsterdam, and The Freedom Fighters, the first hemp legalization group. I also created a garage-rock revival band called the Soul Assassins. In 2002 I directed the video shoot that was later released as Live in Amsterdam (Fishbone album). In 2004, I wrote most of the narration for a/k/a Tommy Chong and also appear in the film. My most recent hardback book, The Octopus Conspiracy and Other Vignettes of the Counterculture, was published by Trine Day. All my ebooks are available exclusively through smashwords. I also regularly appear at college campuses, sometimes solo, but usually as part of a debate on the legalization of cannabis, alongside former New York City D.E.A. chief Robert Stutman. The event, known as "Heads versus Feds," began in 2001 and has visited more than 200 colleges in ten years, regularly drawing standing-room crowds. Bob and I are known as "The Ultimate Odd Couple," and have become close friends despite the cultural gap between us. The debate is booked by Wolfman Productions in Connecticut. |

Out of the Depths | by Hayden Thorne Feb. 05, 2012 | $2.99 | 5574 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: I’ve lived most of my life in the San FranÂcisco Bay Area though I wasn’t born there (or, indeed, the USA). I’m marÂried with no kids and three cats, am a cycling nut (go Team Garmin!), and my day job involves artÂwork, crazy (read: incomÂpreÂhenÂsiÂbly fun) coworkÂers who speÂcialÂize in all kinds of media, and the occaÂsional strange cusÂtomer requests involvÂing papier mache fish with sparkly scales. I’m a writer of young adult ficÂtion, speÂcialÂizÂing in conÂtemÂpoÂrary fanÂtasy, hisÂtorÂiÂcal fanÂtasy, and hisÂtorÂiÂcal genÂres. My books range from a superÂhero fanÂtasy series to reworked folkÂtales to VicÂtoÂrian ghost ficÂtion. My themes are coming-of-age, with very litÂtle focus on romance (most of the time) and more on indiÂvidÂual growth with some advenÂture thrown in. StartÂing 2011, I’ll be writÂing and pubÂlishÂing adult ficÂtion titles, all of which will be pretty much comÂpleÂments of my curÂrent YA backÂlist. My adult ficÂtion titles will be someÂthing like the “grownup†verÂsions of the kinds of stoÂries I love writing. |

| Author bio: I am a spiritual seeker, dog trainer, official Reiki Master and Interior designer, who has turned her hand to writing. I am also an avid chess player, not a great one, but an avid one. I bake, I build, I knit, and I tell great stories. I have roamed far and wide for over sixty years in this realm, and I have seen much; some I wish I had not, and a great deal that I would love to see again. Some days I feel like Bilbo Baggins, for I have been there and come back again. No, I haven't written a book about my wanderings, at least not yet, but much I have experienced, observed, learned, surmised, or imagined, is woven into the tales I have written. |

Anvil of Change | by Jack Dash Feb. 05, 2012 | $0.99 | 123880 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Jack Dash is a child of the fifties and grew up with a good clip round the ear from parents, teachers, and coppers alike – as did most kids of the time. He escaped from home at fifteen when he had to travel forty miles to college because he lived on the wrong side of the county border from the one a mile down the road. After college he took a degree in Computer Science and the first computer he worked on filled a room the size of bungalow, had 4k of memory and no disk space whatsoever – those were the days. He worked as a programmer for a number of years, until his boss decided to fire all the software people and use contractors instead. Jack was in two minds what to do with his redundancy money, use it set up his own software company or buy shares in a little company called Microsoft – which was just going public at the time. With his unfailing instinct for a good bet … he set up his own business. He did okay for a few years but, admittedly, not quite as well as if he had bought the shares instead. However, he did come up with a concept that would allow people to do their shopping on-line and he was all set to patent the idea but then he had a change of heart, he decided it would never catch on and canned the project – just before the Internet took off. At this point, Jack decided that being an entrepreneur was not all it was cracked up to be and decided to become a writer instead. After working as a copy-writer and technical author for some time, Jack is making his first foray into the world of science fiction with his Edge of Destiny trilogy. |

Beg for it Shawna! | by Lord Koga Feb. 05, 2012 | $1.25 | 3822 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Lord Koga is the pen name for a local Grand Rapids, Michigan Author, whom for the last 4 years has been writing in the specific genres of Erotic Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Lesbian Fiction, Romantic Fiction, Horror/sci-fi/fantasy erotica, as well as capture, S & M, BDSM fiction. The pen name “Lord Koga,†has been shortened over the years from its original name Lord Kogarasumaru. The origins of the name Kogarasumaru “Little Crow†is derive from a unique Japanese tachi sword rumored to have been created by legendary Japanese smith Amakuni during 8th century CE. The “little Crow†is considered to be unique as it is a bridge between the old double edge blades of Japan and the more modern version which eventually became known as Katana. Thus, the author that writes under this shortened pen name, desired to use it as a way to describe his writing style as a bit of old school mixed with new techniques. In some ways, considering the Genre in which he writes, it makes some since in the oddity of things, but as this is Veenstra Publishing, we love the oddity of authors, too out there for mainstream publishing to comprehend. Currently Lord Koga has over 68 titles out in e-book format and 4 titles in both print and ebook format. Lord Koga’s printed works include: Knights of Came-a-lot: The Fall of Acheron; Beyond their Control: Erotic Tales of Cheating Wives & the Man the Desired Them All; The Virgin Chronicles: A Beyond their Control Erotic Series; Dare to be Ravished: Beyond Her Control Erotic Series Currently Lord Koga has 15 titles listed on the best sellers list/top rated list in both action/adventure, Teen, and Lesbian subcategories on the All Romance E-book website. |

The Mermaid Variations | by Rhys Hughes Feb. 05, 2012 | $0.99 | 16407 words | Sample 10% |
| Author bio: I am a writer of Fantasy, Speculative Fiction and Magic Realism who often uses comedy and absurdism to examine philosophical issues. I am known for my original ideas, intricate plots and entertaining wordplay! I write short stories, novellas and novels. I have been a writer from an early age. I completed my first proper short story when I was 14. It was called 'The Journey of Mountain Hawk' and I still remember what it was about, even though it no longer exists. None of my early work exists. My earliest surviving short story dates from 1989, and since that time I have embarked on an ambitious project of writing a story cycle consisting of exactly 1000 linked tales. Recently I decided to give this cycle an overall name -- PANDORA'S BLUFF. My main influences are writers such as Italo Calvino, Stanislaw Lem, Boris Vian, Flann O'Brien, Jack Vance and Jorge Luis Borges, all of whom have a very well-developed sense of irony and a powerful imagination. I love irony and satire, not only the 'negative' kind that seeks to undermine some form of injustice but also the 'positive' kind that takes sheer delight in its own playfulness. And yet I am also fully committed to engaging with serious themes. In fact, many years ago, I decided that I should find my own name for the style of writing I like best and the name I came up with was: "Romanti-Cynicism." The main idea behind this new genre is to combine humour and seriousness, to fuse the emotional with the intellectual, the profound with the lighthearted, the unfettered with the precise. My first book was published in 1995 and sold slowly but it seemed to strike a chord with some people. My second, third, fourth, etc, books sold much more strongly as my reputation increased. I have been told that I am a "cult author" and I'm pleased with the description, but obviously I also want to reach out to a wider audience! My twentieth book has just been published and I have many new books due to be released in the next two years. |

| Author bio: Tom Stone is an expert in the development of new techniques for resolving trauma and anxiety. He is the founder and CEO of Great Life Technologies, Inc. that is now providing trauma and anxiety resolution services of veterans and active duty military personnel and their families. Tom studied classical guitar and composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in the late 1960's. He developed a strong interest in the physics and mathematics of music which would later serve as a perfect background for the study of biophysics based medical concepts that are being pioneered in Germany. Tom was involved for more than 30 years with the practice and teaching of meditation. He also has a deep understanding of addiction recovery, has studied the homeopathic medical model developed in Germany in depth and is a leading teacher of applied kinesiology. Tom has given hundreds of lectures, seminars and training programs throughout the world. Tom has been pioneering the new field of Human Software Engineering since the mid 1990's. His penetrating insights into the nature of human conditioning including his model - The Core Dynamics of Human Conditioning, shed new light on the real reasons behind the very limited capacity that most people have for resolving trauma and anxiety. His innovative 8 Pure Awareness Techniques teach people to become skillful at resolving trauma and anxiety within themselves. These techniques are currently being taught to veterans, active duty military and others who have experienced severe traumas. The results are unprecedented, thorough resolution of trauma and anxiety that appear to be permanent. Tom is well qualified to be an expert in resolving trauma. On December 7th,1993, Tom was shot in the chest by a deranged stranger with a .44 caliber handgun. He miraculously lived through this assault and began his search for real solutions to the trauma resulting from this event. This lead him to the beginnings of the discovery of the techniques that are now being used to train Trauma Resolution Specialists world wide. In addition to veterans and active duty military personnel the techniques have been found equally effective for rape victims, victims of violent crimes, domestic abuse, natural disasters, first responders, etc. Tom is an extraordinary and entertaining trainer and presenter. He has an unusual gift of making complex things simple and easy to understand. |
