I never intended to be an author - it kind of happened by accident. I've always kept diaries since my teens (many years ago) and ended up with a collection of true stories about life but mainly food, dieting efforts, relationships, clothes shopping, shoes and chocolate - the usual type of women's issues, many of which, in particular, were pertinent to my current book, THE FAT BAG stuck between a rock cake & a hard plaice (I simply love the play on words). When this book came together, on advice from friends, I decided to publish it and writing became a worthy and enjoyable pastime. The title of the book has a double-meaning, which all gets explained at the end. I've continued the story by writing a sequel to THE FAT BAG which should be complete and published by early spring.

I'm a writer, journalist, filmmaker, event producer and counterculture and cannabis activist. I was the first journalist to travel to the South Bronx and document the origins of hip hop. In 1988, I was hired as editor of High Times magazine. I created the Cannabis Cup, a cannabis awards ceremony held every Thanksgiving in Amsterdam, and The Freedom Fighters, the first hemp legalization group. I also created a garage-rock revival band called the Soul Assassins. In 2002 I directed the video shoot that was later released as Live in Amsterdam (Fishbone album). In 2004, I wrote most of the narration for a/k/a Tommy Chong and also appear in the film. My most recent hardback book, The Octopus Conspiracy and Other Vignettes of the Counterculture, was published by Trine Day. All my ebooks are available exclusively through smashwords. Thus the book discussed the knowledge issues by refreshing our memories on what is HIV and AIDS, mode of transmission, how to protect oneself and others from HIV and AIDS also the use of condoms. There were various discussions on what people say HIV and AIDs is and the level of information and understanding from all walks of life. Finally the summary of knowledge, the expected attitude changes toward HIV and AIDS and the good practices that will keep people from HIV and AIDS.

While blogging and books are at the forefront of my life at present, I didn't plan to be an author. Sure, I've been writing for years--everything from songs as a young girl (wish I had kept all those lyrics!), short stories, and even a soap opera or two in high school. I am a native of Childress, Texas and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma's H. H. Herbert School of Journalism with a BA in Radio/TV/Film. I have worked in television production and taught Television and Film Production at Oklahoma City University while managing that school's television station. I've worked in industrial films for the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, and for the National Cattlemen's Association. I published the Chillicothe (Texas) Valley News in the 1970s, served as Managing Editor of the Moore (Oklahoma) Monitor in the 1980s and published the Sentinel (Oklahoma) Leader in the 1990s. I've written three books, two of which are in ebook form at Smashwords, "Dismantling The Republic" and "Unto The Churches of Galatia: A Commentary on Paul's Epistle To The Galatians." The third, "...Unto Thy People: The Story of Our Fathers" is a family history that was published in paper back in 2003. I have also co-authored a book, entitled, "The Old Porter Place" which is a nostalgic collection of more than 50 brief true stories from the childhood of my cousin and me while we were growing up in western Oklahoma in the 1940s and 50s. "The Old Porter Place" is now available on Smashwords also. I am married to the former Sherlene Holley of Carter, Oklahoma. We were married in her parents' home in Carter on May 19, 1961. We have six children, 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Four of our six children have taught, or are currently teaching at the University of Oklahoma, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and the University of North Texas.
