| Author bio: Martin Rots was raised in Southern California and Detroit. In the late-sixties, he regularly attended concerts at the Grande Ballroom, Eastowne Theater, and other contemporary Detroit venues. Martin has continued to write fiction, non-fiction, essays, and short stories his entire life. In the mid-sixties, Martin began to collect music, books and memorabilia and has consequently amassed a large collection that is still growing. His passion for the era has taken him to London, Paris, New York and San Francisco for research. Crossing Abbey Road, visiting Jim Morrison’s grave in Paris, and standing on the stage at Monterey where Jimi burned his guitar has given him a better understanding of the artists and the places that inspired them and their music. Today Martin lives in Northern California while he continues to study and write about the music of the era and the counterculture that evolved around it. He regularly contributes to this blog www.MartinRots.com and his Classic Rock blog at www.ClassicRockEsoterica.com. |

Blast from Your Past! Rock & Roll Radio DJs: the First Five Years 1954-1959 | by LinDee Rochelle July 15, 2011 | $4.99 | 36243 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: In "Blast from Your Past! Rock & Roll Radio DJs: the First Five Years 1954-1959" I describe myself honestly as a country-gal-gone-city. Moving to the city may also be the deciding factor that delayed my writing career by twenty-five years (any shrinks out there care to speculate?). I simply had too much fun to finish college, and at nineteen in the late Sixties, found myself as a wife and mother of adventurous twin boys. Nope, I never burned my bra and made it through the Psychedelic era without ever partaking of "mother's little helper." Decades of left-brain executive level office administration, though, eventually left me artistically stagnant. Feeling the void, I put my creative right brain and early journalism studies to the test, and in 1995 tentatively sought magazine assignments. My immediate acceptance into the writing and publishing world had me kicking myself, wondering what life would have been like, if I’d stuck with my writing. But as Ol’ Blue Eyes once warbled, “Regrets, I’ve had a few … but I did it my way.†And I’m a firm believer of looking forward not back, with a forgiving philosophy that you can’t live your life on wishful thinking and coulda-woulda-shoulda regrets. I wrote for regional magazines in Arizona and California, and eventually worked with a small press publisher in Phoenix before returning to my beloved San Diego in 2007, after twelve long, soul-sucking years in the desert. Although Phoenix offered some interesting avocations – like eight seasons working with the media at the Arizona State Fair, a stint as a Jeep tour guide in the outback, and a super-fun gig as weekend radio announcer at the largest outdoor market – I now write with the Pacific Ocean in view as well as in my heart, and offer insights to authors through book editing and consulting. Whenever possible I refresh my muse in adventures along the ocean’s edge and when boating, as far out to sea as the day allows. Thanks for enjoying the moment again … with me. |

How to Transfer Cassettes To CD | by Randy Benjamin Jan. 22, 2010 | $3.99 | 8274 words | Sample 50% |
| Author bio: Randy Benjamin has been a computer technician for over 35 years. Before that he was in the music business recording for several major labels. (Warner Bros, Curb, and Mercury Records) He also owned and was the recoding engineer at Castle Recordings a small recording studio in the heart of “music row†in Nashville Tennessee. In 1995, he started freelance writing, selling his first articles to Music Row Magazine in Nashville. These articles documented the increasing use of computers in the recording, mastering, and distribution of 'hit' records. They also helped to show just how important a roll the emerging Internet would play in the ever-changing cycles of boom and bust that's always been a part of the music industry. In 1998 he started a newspaper column that was syndicated in 23 newspapers. This column inspired his first two books, “The Internet Guide Handbook†and “More of the Internet Guide.†Soon to follow was an interactive CD called, “The Healthy Computer.†In late 2009 he went back to his musical roots writing and producing a children’s Album and book called, “Tapestries.†After demoing the album in Nashville, he decided that a one hour animated television special might be a possibility so he’s planning on pitching the idea to Warner Bros, Disney, and Hanna Barbara sometime in 2010. 2009 was a busy year. Writing under the pen name of Asher Dan, he tested the market with a sci-fi novel called, “The Anomaly.†He’s since decided to go ahead and release it under his own name, doing away with the pen name altogether. This novel should be ready for release in the summer or fall of 2010. In all, he has seven books, one album/book and one album in his catalog. Several of them will be carried on Smashwords. |
