Polar Bear Angels: Humorous, Insightful and Irreverent Stories from a Reverend | by Keith Rasey Nov. 18, 2011 | $2.99 | 26389 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Keith A. Rasey is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Yale Divinity School and Kent State University. He has Bachelor of Science degrees in History and Economics and Gerontology and Long Term Health Care Management. He has a Master of Divinity. Keith has done postgraduate work in organizational leadership and advancement at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. He is also a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Keith has over twenty-five years of experience in working with patients and families at the end of life. The very first patient to die at home in the United States, while receiving care from hospice, was a member of the parish he served as minister on May 25, 1977. Keith was working with hospice as a volunteer before hospice care was approved for payment by the Federal government. He is particularly skilled and experienced at Judeochristian and Buddhist approaches and practices for end of life care. He is currently exploring the ways in which traditional healers, aka shamans, practices can inform, enrich and deepen spiritual care at the end of life. He also understands that, from a family systems' viewpoint, humor, wit and whimsy are ways of being in the world that can create a way for change in organizations and groups that are stuck in a rut. Some of the "crazy" things that traditional healers do may offer us postmodern people a way to live more authentic, centered and whole lives in the sociocultural contexts of our present lives. "The Landscapes of Our Patients' Journeys" grew out of his interest in both science based or evidence based approaches and spirituality. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services is increasingly requiring hospices to measure the quality of care and the patient/family experience. "The Landscapes of Our Patients' Journeys" offers a method to marry narrative and data that provides a means to assess the patient/family experience of end of life and measure the quality of caregivers' responses. He is currently formating his newest book, "Polar Bear Angels: Humorous, Insightful and Irreverent Stories from a Reverend," to make it conform to epublishing platforms. It is based on real interactions. As has often been noted, real life is far more unbelievable, outrageous, poignant and humorous than anything that can be made up. Keith lives with Diane, his wife of twenty years, and two dogs, Benny and Sunshine. He enjoys theater, cinema, travel, reading and jogging his two canine housemates through a five mile route in a local cemetery. |

Mafia Messiah | by Joe Bagori Nov. 11, 2011 | $2.99 | 32387 words | Sample 2% |
| Author bio: Joe Bagori, born in 1959, to second generation Italian American parents, in Providence Rhode Island. The Italian American community of Federal Hill was his home during his early years. It was there that Joe began his appreciation for extended family, religious values, and good food. It was during those formative years that Joe also got to experience the close knit community that populated Federal Hill. It wasn't unusual to know your neighbors and storekeepers and expect welcoming grins when venturing outside. It wasn't unusual for neighbors to call themselves, "Pizans", something similar to cousin, meaning they came from the province in Italy. Good food and a sense of belonging were not the only old world traditions that Federal Hill embraced. Federal Hill was home to the undisputed leader of New England Organized crime, and he had his office, "The Office", just a few doors down from Joe's home. Power emanated from that office and it influenced the population of not only the neighborhood, but the whole state, the New England region, and was the target of the Federal Bureau of Investigations. The Providence Journal reported spectacular crimes and punishments and invariably attributed them to "The Office". Joe would read these accounts as a paperboy. Joe would ask his mother about those Providence Journal articles and about "The Office" occupant, Raymond Patriarca, and he would be told the Journal was just prejudiced against Italians. Maybe the Providence Journal was reporting facts, and maybe they just did not understand the facts, so Joe was in search of them. As Joe learnt that his Grandfather was good friends with Raymond, Joe thought his mother's comments may have been prejudiced in themselves. In other regards Joe was a typical Baby Boomer and Joe gives a unique perspective of growing up a Boomer in a world were an old world was trying to exist into a future that was born of the space race. Joe's first book, "Mafia Messiah" is a fun read that will open memory passages of your mind making each readers experience unique. |

| Author bio: A submarine sailor for almost nine years, I am also an award winning artist. As a scuba diver I have dived sites from New England to the Caribbean. A sporadic and closet writer for 30 years, my first book "Titanic, A Search For Answers" was originally written as a fundraiser for a maritime museum where I was the advisory board president and a member of the board of trustees. Historical research is my hobby and influences much of my writing. I currently have a book on the end of the Civil War that I am working on as well as the second edition of "Christmas Patrol" I'll add more in the future. Take care and God bless you. Drop me a line ... I am glad to answer any questions you might have. I have about another 6 e-books that I need to finish editing and they will be up. Sorry for the delay. I have a bit of a full plate right now, but I will get them up soon. The civil war book is going great. Also, based on feedback from readers, I wrote an outline for a new book on Titanic (but this will be my last Titanic book). Once again, thank you very much. Volume Two Of Christmas Patrol will be coming out in November. I also have another Christmas short story coming out at the same time. |

Living on the Borders of Eternity - The Story of Samuel Davies and the Struggle for Religious Toleration in Colonial Virginia | by Robert Bluford Jr. April 12, 2011 | $9.99 | 178744 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Photo by Ken Odor — Rev. Dr. Robert Bluford Jr. and Del. Chris Peace stand in the doorway of the structure which marks the site of the historic Polegreen Church, destroyed in the Civil War. The Rev. Robert Bluford Jr. has been a B-24 fighter pilot in World War II, preacher, historian, preservationist, a Presbyterian pastor and campus ministry director in the Southeast, and the Virginia Press Association’s Virginian of the Year for 2011. He is also the founder and president of the Historic Polegreen Church Foundation and helped to save land around the historic Polegreen Church in Hanover County, Virginia, and was the 2004 recipient of the annual award presented by the Council of America’s First Freedom. The retired Presbyterian minister's passions have included the Fan Free Clinic, which he helped found in 1968, and Civil War site preservation. At 92, he is still an activist, working for better treatment of Virginia's Native Americans and establishing a Civil War memorial being among his top pursuits. His Civil War dream is to plant a tree for every American killed during the war along a 100-plus-mile stretch of US 15. The author in detail: In his younger days, Bob, a Richmond, Virginia, native, interrupted his studies for the ministry at Hampden-Sydney College in May 1942 to volunteer for the U.S. Army Air Force. He served as a B-24 bomber pilot and squadron leader in the 8th Air Force during World War II, then returned to Hampden-Sydney and graduated in 1947 as valedictorian. He subsequently graduated, cum laude, from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond in 1950 and earned graduate degrees from the seminary in 1954 and 1957. In the 1950s, he also served as campus minister at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and in pastorates in North Carolina and South Carolina. He was active in the civil rights movement on campuses in the 1960s and in peaceful protests of United States military involvement in Southeast Asia. In 1971, Bob was a co-founder of the Fan Free Medical Clinic in Richmond. He served on the board of directors of Planned Parenthood in Richmond. Over the last 30 years, he has served as minister or associate at Presbyterian churches in Richmond and at 86 was still active as a pastor and preacher. During his ministry he served as a leader and volunteer in projects to preserve numerous historic sites in Virginia, including two — the Historic Polegreen Church Foundation in Hanover County and the Laurel Historic District in Henrico — that were placed on the Register of Historic Places of the U.S. Department of the Interior. He currently is director of the Douglas Southall Freeman Branch of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities. Since 1990, he also has been active with the United Indians of Virginia’s effort to recover nearly 2,000 skeletal remains of their ancestors from the Smithsonian Institute. He was elected to the United Indians’ board of directors in 1995 and is the only non-Indian to be recognized as a board member. Since 1989, he has devoted time and energy to the Historic Polegreen Church Foundation, the church whose early history is told as an engrossing you-are-there story in this book by the foundation’s founder. Bob Bluford was recognized “for his determined preservation of the Polegreen meeting house site†as the Virginia recipient of the 2004 First Freedom Award bestowed by the Council for America’s First Freedom. |

Life's A Joke | by Jay M Horne March 05, 2011 | $5.99 | 39051 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Jay grew up in a wealthy family as a young child. His parents however would see to it that their kids attended public school so that they would not feel they were better than the other children. As a boy, jay was particularly neat. He always had things planned out, or a schedule to stay fit, but never let those qualities interfere with his over active imagination. He started writing at the age of ten. Tall tales he would construct from movies he would see or stories he would hear from his father. As he grew into a teenager his family settled quaintly into southern middle class, and his father's work abroad would have them move many times among the South East United States. This gypsy like attribute to his teen years colored him culturally, as he was forced to change high schools more than 4 times. At 17 his interest in school work had dimiinshed completely and he was already a budding entrepeneur. Getting his G.E.D. and serving in the U.S. Navy along side BuDS class 243 was but one adventure of his youth. Constantly he stayed engulfed in the art ninjutsu and practical Earth magics. Tinkering in phoilosopshy and religion, and finding adequate similarities across the globe, though gaping distances separated their past, he became intrigued in connecting these strange occurences. His writting career, especially his earliest works, reflects this in every sense. From works on martial arts to joke books, he genuinely longs to bring humanity into harmony on the planet, and see in his lifetime the world speaking with a single voice of praise and love. |

| Author bio: DayStar Publishing is a publishing company. Publishing a book is the method used to let the public at large know that your book exists and is available for purchase. There have always been two methods for publishing a book. One, go all over the country at your own expense and visit bookstore after bookstore and try to get them to sell your book, or two, sell your book in manuscript form to a publishing company that will publish the book at its own expense. DayStar is a publishing company, not a printing company. We will not take books in manuscript form and print them. Before we will publish a book, it must be submitted in manuscript form and be approved by DayStar for publication. This approval must be secured by the author before the book is printed. If approved, we will take books that are printed by the author and publish them. DayStar Publishing is not a guarantor of sales and will not supply funds for the printing of any book no matter how promising its chance of sales is. We will not print your book, pay to print your book, nor purchase the entire printing of your book. We also can refuse to be the publisher for your book if we feel we do not want the book associated with DayStar Publishing. If you are interested in what DayStar Publishing can do for you, we highly recommend that you purchase How to Get Your Book Published by Dr. Samuel C. Gipp. This book answers the questions concerning writing a book, obtained ISBN numbers, Library of Congress numbers and copyright information. In addition, it explains the details for what you must do in order to submit your book for approval. |

All the Blessings of Life: The Best Stories of F. W. Boreham (Revised) | by F. W. Boreham May 25, 2010 | $5.00 | 88840 words | Sample 25% |
| Author bio: BOREHAM, FRANK WILLIAM (1871-1959), preacher and writer, was born on March 3, 1871 at Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England, eldest child of Francis Boreham, solicitor's clerk, and his wife Fanny Usher. He was educated and was later a pupil-teacher at Grosvenor United School, Tunbridge Wells. In December 1884 he became junior clerk with a local brickworks where, in a locomotive accident, he lost his right foot, necessitating the life-long use of a stick. Late in 1887 he went to work as a clerk in London, becoming increasingly involved in church, debating and writing activities. Although his family was Anglican, he was baptized at Stockwell Old Baptist Church in 1890; he preached from pavement and pulpit and published "Won to Glory" in 1891. He was admitted to Spurgeon's College, London, in August 1892, serving as a student-minister at Theydon Bois, Essex, where he met Estella Maud Mary Cottee. In 1894 Boreham was called to the Scottish community at Mosgiel near Dunedin in New Zealand, and was inducted on March 17, 1895. Stella, then 18, followed to marry him at Kaiapoi on April 13, 1896. Boreham became president of the Baptist Union of New Zealand in 1902, and published "The Whisper of God and Other Sermons." He wrote editorials for the Otago Daily Times, contributed to theological journals and, as a keen temperance advocate, participated in liquor polls in 1905 and 1907. In June 1906 Boreham was called to the Baptist Tabernacle, Hobart. He edited the Southern Baptist and later the weekly Australian Baptist and in 1910 became president of the Tasmanian Baptist Union. His "George Augustus Selwyn" was published in 1911. He wrote a biographical series for the Hobart Mercury, which in 40 years covered 2000 persons; in 1912-59 he contributed 2500 editorials to the Mercury and the Melbourne Age. Boreham's 80 publications, including religious works, homiletic essays and novels, sold over one million copies. |
