600 Hours of Edward by Craig Lancaster 600 Hours of Edward by Craig Lancaster Jan. 05, 2010 $9.99 79151 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
Craig Lancaster’s road to becoming a published novelist was, like that of many authors, a bit rocky. But the rocks weren’t nearly so tough to deal with as the deer. “I crashed a motorcycle at 60 miles per hour on the interstate in July 2008 after a buck jumped out on me,” Lancaster says. “Broken ribs, road rash, collapsed lung. It was a mess.” A couple of months later, as Lancaster wound down his recuperation, a friend asked him to make a run at National Novel Writing Month, the annual 30-day dash in which writers are challenged to put down at least 50,000 words. It’s something Lancaster had attempted before but had never seen through. “I was reluctant to do it again,” he says. “I was still in a bit of pain, and I didn’t really want to do anything that would lead to more disappointment. “But the more I thought about it, the more excited I got. If you have a traumatic injury and make it through, you can’t help but think about the things you’ve always wanted to do and haven’t, for whatever reason. So I took the chance.” The results exceeded his expectations – and exceeded the requirements of the event known as NaNoWriMo. Lancaster wrote nearly 80,000 words in the first 24 days of November 2008, laying the foundation of what would become his debut novel, 600 HOURS OF EDWARD. The story centers on a middle-aged man, Edward Stanton, who has Asperger’s syndrome and obsessive-compulsive disorder and has settled into a life largely devoid of human contact. In 25 days one autumn – 600 hours – the world he has kept at bay crashes onto his front step and forces him to deal with the fallout. Riverbend Publishing of Helena, Montana, released the book in October 2009, to critical acclaim. New York Times bestselling author Gregg Olsen hailed the book, saying, “Funny and quirky, Lancaster’s compulsively readable debut has a heart as big as the Montana sky.” Readers who have peeked into Edward’s meticulously kept world have fallen in love with the character and the changes that come – not just with him, but with the people around him. For Lancaster, who lives in Billings, Montana, with his wife, Angie, and two rambunctious dachshunds, 600 HOURS OF EDWARD wrenched open a whole new world. The longtime journalist is hard at work on new fiction projects, all of them intensely character-driven. And all because a deer ruined a summer day’s ride. “It sounds cliché, but it’s not: Crushing disappointment has a way of leading to things you didn’t expect,” Lancaster says. “It’s part of the human experience. I want to explore that as deeply as I can.”

A Bad Way To Go by Keith Remer A Bad Way To Go by Keith Remer June 20, 2011 $9.99 73323 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
International award winning author Keith Remer is a native Oklahoman. As such, he realized long ago there are no better breeding grounds for thrillers than the trailer parks, oilfields, churches, ranches, skyscrapers and meth-labs of the Bible-Belt. Remer fills his fictionalized accounts with the products of the region’s western, Native American, outlaw, and fundamental Christian cultures to produce unforgettable characters who bring his unique plots to life. Keith is a retired army colonel. He spends his retirement as a small-time rancher and adjunct college professor. In the late 70’s and early 80’s he took a ten-year break from the army to serve as an Oklahoma City police officer. During those years he policed the roughest precincts of the city. Remer’s specialized military training awarded him opportunities to join the S.W.A.T. team and bomb squad. Keith was raised as the son of an oilfield roustabout. He spent his formative years in shanties and mobile homes as he was moved from one oil boom town to another. He rubbed elbows with relatives who were outlaw bikers long before putting those types in jail. He’s been in bar fights and shoot-outs and has shaken the hands of two American Presidents. His stories are a product of his background. To date, Keith has written eight novels and converted two into screenplays. At the insistence of a number of producers and directors, he intends to adapt all his novels for the big-screen.

A DIAMOND WORTH KILLING FOR by Frank Gauthier A DIAMOND WORTH KILLING FOR by Frank Gauthier Feb. 18, 2009 $9.49 95779 words Sample 50%
Author bio:
Frank Gauthier is the pen name of a real writer. Frank was born in Italy. He left for Montreal, Canada, on his own, when he was 19. There he frequented the Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal graduating in engineering (geology) in 1973. He went on to get a Master in geochemistry in 1974. He worked for a few years in Northern Quebec, then left to teach Engineering at the Ecole Polytechnique of Thies, Senegal for CIDA, the Canadian International Development Agency. Back in Montreal he got an MBA from Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (International Marketing), in 1980. He then worked for a number of Engineering firms in Georgia and California, as well as in Africa, South East Asia, South America and Europe. He lives now in Piedmont whit his companion. Frank has already published two books: The first one, “ A Diamond Worth Killing For” was published in Italian by the "Gruppo Edicom”. The second book, “Gold Kills Too” was published in e-format in 2009. He is now writing a guide book on the “Roero” wine district (where he lives), and the gastronomy of the area. The book is expected to be published in 2009. Hopefully he is not getting in any real trouble writing a cook book !!! Frank reads at least a book per week. The books he enjoys the most are those written by Robert Ludlum, John Grisham, Ken Follet, Michael Crichton, Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, Le Carré, Wilbur Smith (from whom he was inspired in writing the first two thrillers), Frederick Forsyth, Bill Bryson (who inspitred the wrting of thethe Guide Book on Roero). Frank's a para glider, and a windsurfer. Frank has double nationality: he’s like to have a third. He’s working on it. He also has at least two passports, one Italian and one Canadian, unfortunately under his real name. Also four driver licenses, two of which international, under different names. He is looking for two more passports, one Nigerian (this is where he will go next) and one Brazilian, under two different names. Frank’s open to suggestions. Given his uncanny ability to get in real trouble, two more passports is the minimum he needs to hide and survive.
